Frome Association for Holiday Activities originated over 20 years ago and at that time was an umbrella organisation for many different providers in the town.
Now FAHA is the name of the voluntary play scheme based at the Frome Youth and Community Centre in Vallis Way which aims to provide stimulating, interesting and safe play activities for young people (aged 5-11yrs) during school holidays.
FAHA is registered with OFSTED (registration no; 142798) and complies with the necessary statutory requirements (health & safety, child protection etc) while providing a daytime childcare facility that not only do parents have confidence in using but that the young people want to join.
As a voluntary organisation, FAHA is overseen by a Management Committee of volunteers. Click here to see our commitee members on the commitee members page. The administration, bookings and staffing in preparation for each school holiday scheme is the role of the Co-ordinator.
There are several Play Leaders who organise the activities each week and themes the activities to the seasons, calendar or other topical event as well as take responsibility for the smooth running of the scheme and activities.
Deputy Play leaders have a key role in supporting young people who have additional support needs, both on a one to one basis and enabling all the young people to get the most out of the activities.
Play workers complete the staff line up and play a vital role in ensuring that the young people have a fun day at FAHA. If you woul;d like to see if there are any available job opportunities to join the FAHA (Frome Association for Holiday Activities) team please click here.
FAHA is currently applying to The Charity Commission to become a charity and it is hoped that this will have several benefits for the scheme and lead to opportunities for fund raising both in the community and linking with local companies. To see more about our charity information click here
